About The Position

The Labor Center is dedicated to conducting research and education on labor and employment issues, and the Operations Coordinator will be integral in supporting these initiatives through effective operational management. In the finance domain, the Operations Coordinator will coordinate and perform procurement, reimbursement, and payment functions, ensuring compliance with UC policies. This includes managing the purchasing process, developing purchase orders, and processing invoices for independent contractors. The role also involves collaborating with the Director of Operations to develop and monitor budgets for various Labor Center events, ensuring that financial activities align with the center's goals. Human resources responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes, as well as conducting new hire orientations. The Operations Coordinator will work closely with the Operations Director to create training materials and ensure that new employees are well-informed about the center's policies and procedures. Administrative support is another key aspect of this role, where the Operations Coordinator will provide executive-level assistance to Labor Center leadership, including drafting and editing correspondence and reports. Additionally, the coordinator will help implement the goals and strategies outlined in the center's Strategic Plan, which involves planning staff retreats and events throughout the year. The position also requires coordination of IT, facilities, and safety measures, including preparing office spaces for new hires and managing health and safety programs. The Operations Coordinator will serve as the Department Safety Coordinator, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and conducting workstation assessments.
