About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Controller to join the LBS Team in Kenosha, WI. The Operations Controller reports to the LBS (Lighting & Building Systems division) VP of Finance and partners closely with the LBS VP of Operations. This role is responsible for operations accounting, cost accounting oversight, productivity reporting, financial analysis, operations internal controls, and inventory valuation across LBS manufacturing and distribution operations. The role manages operations accounting, overseeing cost accounting activities. Directs preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual productivity reporting for all LBS entities. This position is responsible for conducting internal productivity reviews and generating and communicating productivity metrics for LBS. The role is responsible for the financial and operational support of the business entities, including the following: providing financial support and analysis to the business on operational issues, such as freight, packaging, capital expenditures, logistics, inventory, etc. The role is also responsible for identifying good business practices and partnering with business-unit accounting and finance teams to establish these practices within the division’s ERP systems and plants. These practices relate primarily to standard costing, inventory control, purchasing performance, and financial support of deployment and maintenance of the Legrand Way.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or Finance with a, CMA or CPA desired.
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience with at least 5 years in Finance and accounting management (i.e., controller, assistant controller, finance/accounting manager). 5+ years manufacturing experience required.
  • Must have strong financial control background and demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills. Must demonstrate good judgment, well developed business ethics, integrity and consultancy skills.
  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and financial software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required. Must have the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively and manage multiple priorities in an intense, deadline-driven environment.
  • The candidate should be a strong, visible leader able to instill confidence in the financial organization and among various leaders.
  • Must be able to manage, develop, train, motivate, and manage staff on a day-to-day basis, establish goals and provide performance feedback per Legrand performance management process. Must be able to provide the right balance of guidance/support and autonomy, based upon employees’ level of skills, knowledge and competence.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations leadership to monitor and control costs, address negative trends, and drive productivity.
  • Supports and directs efforts for operations finance surrounding monthly close, financial reporting, variance analysis, and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee cost accounting processes including standard cost maintenance, cost rolls, inventory valuation, and analysis.
  • Coordinate capital expenditure tracking, approvals, and system accuracy.
  • Lead development of annual budgets and forecasts, including materials, labor, overhead, and plant-level financial planning.
  • Provide financial analysis related to manufacturing performance, sourcing, logistics, operational improvements, and evaluating impacts and scenarios of international trade, including tariffs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and drive process improvements across operations finance.
  • Assists VP Finance with budget and ad-hoc projects.
