About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Operations Control Engineer to support the Space Force Range contract. Key Responsibilities Lead the company mission and execution planning teams Collect and organize Range and Customer requirements and translate them into an executable operation plan Lead the development process for UDS (Universal Documentation System) Documentation (Operations Directives, Operations Directive Annexes, Operations Requirements Extracts, Operations Control Instructions), Instrumentation Coverage Plans, and Instrumentation Plans Prepare and present launch readiness briefings, schedules and supports operations, including test and evaluation of new and modified Range systems Assigned as either the Instrumentation Superintendent of Range Operations (ISRO), Lead Range Controller (LRC), or Technical Advisor (TA) to the SLD 45 Range Operations Commander (ROC) during pre-launch and launch operations While on console, provide direction to system controllers, manage execution of the Range Countdown, receive system status reports, determine instrumentation status, resolve status conflicts, and ensure Instrumentation status is reported to and approved by the Range Engineer Make sound decisions under demanding time constraints, often with incomplete information, without compromising safety and mission assurance performance Coordinate with the ROC to develop the Air Force Launch Support Plan (LSP) and launch customer countdown steps in sync with the Range Countdown Direct off-range agencies for use of resources during operations when the ER is assigned as Lead Range Prepare and distribute Quick Look Operations Reports after each mission or major operation and Operations Summary Reports for all other operations where an ISRO or TA is required to be on console Participate in post-launch performance reviews to ensure all operations problems are identified and assist in resolution Develop new and improve existing SFRC Operating Instructions, procedures, and instructions Provide subject matter expertise for internal and external customer meetings and reviews to support integration of new/modified systems or to address new or changing launch customer requirements Ensure contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvements Develop and present concise, well-organized briefings to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences Organize and lead mission-planning teams through effective use of written and verbal communications Recommend, develop, and integrate SFRC Integrated Process Team (IPT) concepts and recommendations to capitalize on Cross Range best practices, efficiencies and standardization

Requirements

  • Ten years’ Range experience with proven knowledge of Range systems
  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Two years’ experience as a systems controller, systems maintenance engineer or systems analyst
  • Possess knowledge of ER Range Systems, launch support posture and methodology
  • Detailed knowledge of the Eastern Range ERD Alias definitions, structure and interdependence
  • Understand SLD 45 procedures and practices for operations scheduling, planning, mission execution, and organizational roles and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate use of the Universal Documentation System process and how the Range and Customer requirements are submitted, reviewed, and translated into needed Range capabilities and plans
  • Understand EWR 127-1 and SSPCMAN 91-710/711 Range Safety Requirements and explain how requirements imposed on ER instrumentation pertain to launch and landing operations
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Work independently and with team members with limited supervision.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • Ability to travel if required
  • Flexibility in work schedule, to include non-duty hours or on weekends/holidays to support specific project or mission requirements and customer schedules

  • Two years’ experience with Voice Net communications, preferred
