The Operations Capital Equipment Project Manager is responsible for develop Disk, Blade, and Airfoil manufacturing strategies to drive yield improvements and process control throughout all operations. The Operations Capital Equipment Project Manager will maintain site capital budgets, reporting and team oversite. Lead a team consisting of Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, EH&S, IT & facilities to develop sustainable capital strategies. Lead procurement activities including feasibility evaluation, alternatives analyses, economic life cycle cost analysis, RFP/RFQ packages, bidding, bid review, evaluation and recommendation, submission of Purchase Order Request in P&W SRM system; leverage manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of aerospace airfoils Lead cross functional teams to complete projects to align with our growth strategy in support of the next generation of aerospace propulsion systems. Drive projects from conceptualization through procurement, installation and into implementation phases; act as site lead for growth projects and project coordinating with Pratt and Whitney Core Capital Equipment Procurement Organization Assists with the multi-year capital planning and project coordination; lead the CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) journey to continuously improve the quality and exceed customer’s expectations; perform all tasks at the highest level of safety awareness and be responsible for contractor oversight Periodic travel required (<10%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, project management or related industrial environment or a Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management project management or related industrial environment
  • Knowledge of or experience in contractor management including drafting scope of work, pre-bid meetings, supplier down select and schedule of value management, familiarity with machine tool selection & procurement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional machining (broaching, grinding, multi axis milling, and mill-turn) techniques to produce airfoils and industrially available technologies, traditional and non-traditional manufacturing (isothermal forging, spray coating, heat treat, and ultrasonic inspection) techniques to produce disks and industrially available technologies
  • Experience with media finishing processes including tumble polishing, blasting, peening, and chemical processing
  • Familiarity with PLC programming, robotic automation, ignition programming or other automated machinery programming is preferred
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (CORE, 6S, etc.)
  • Analytical Skills; experience with root cause analysis
