About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for an Operations Associate to join our Emergency Department team in Westfield, MA. This part-time position requires working the third shift from 11pm to 7:30am, totaling 24 hours per week with rotating days, every other weekend, and rotating holidays required. The Operations Associate will report to the Nurse Manager and work under the direct supervision of the charge nurse, ensuring all business functions related to processing patient information, managing documentation, and facilitating smooth unit operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work rotating days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multitask and be computer literate.
  • Experience with electronic health records is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Track, prioritize, and assign beds; communicate with BMD and BM for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Utilize computer applications such as C Word, OA Gold, SMS, CIS, Premise, BMD, PCM Auditor, People Soft, and Kronos.
  • Participate in unit-specific projects such as payroll and committee participation.
  • Provide report/handoff to the next shift including pending discharges and admissions in process.
  • Assist Hospitalist during clinical rounds and maintain unit-based assignments.
  • Function as a greeter for new patients and families.
  • Maintain patient charts in proper sequence and prepare records for transfer and discharge.
  • Prepare staffing assignments for the next shift and communicate staffing needs.
  • Inventory, maintain, and charge supplies; initiate requisitions accurately.
  • Initiate emergency procedures as needed within the unit.
