About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a Part Time Operations Associate to join our team in Springfield, MA. This position is part-time, working 24 hours per week on the first shift from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. The Operations Associate will report to the Nurse Manager and will work closely with patient and family-centered care teams to ensure all business functions related to processing patient information, managing documentation, organizing patient medical records, and facilitating smooth unit operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior administrative experience strongly preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work rotating days, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to multitask.
• Computer literate.
• Experience with electronic health records is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Tracks, prioritizes and assigns beds; communicates with BMD and BM for admissions, discharges and transfers (ADTs).
• Proficiently and accurately utilizes computer applications in daily work.
• Participates in unit specific projects as assigned.
• Provides report/handoff to next shift including pending discharges and admissions in process.
• Serves as a unit-based resource for Zoned Hospitalist and medical/surgical teaching teams.
• Functions as a greeter for the arrival of new patients/families to the unit/department.
• Maintains patient chart in proper sequence and prepares records prior to transfer and discharge.
• Prepares staffing assignments for the next shift in coordination with the charge nurse.
• Inventories, maintains and charges supplies; initiates requisitions and requests.
• Initiates emergency procedures as needed within the unit/department.
