About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a Full Time Operations Associate to join our team in Springfield, MA. The position is full time, working 3rd Shift Hours from 7pm-7:30am, totaling 36 hours per week with rotating days, every other weekend, and rotating holidays required. The role is located at Baystate Main Campus, Medical/Neuro ICU Unit in Springfield, MA.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior administrative experience strongly preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work rotating days, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to multitask and be computer literate.
• Experience with electronic health records is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Tracks, prioritizes and assigns beds; communicates with BMD and BM for admissions, discharges and transfers (ADTs).
• Coordinates unit/department ADTs and checks BMD for new data, advising Charge Nurse of changes.
• Rounds 3 times daily with RNs and CM regarding discharges, discharge times, and special instructions.
• Utilizes computer applications such as C Word, OA Gold, SMS, CIS, Premise, BMD, PCM Auditor, People Soft, and Kronos.
• Provides report/handoff to next shift including pending discharges, admissions in process, and bed statuses.
• Serves as a unit-based resource for Zoned Hospitalist and medical/surgical teaching teams.
• Functions as a greeter for the arrival of new patients/families to the unit/department.
• Maintains patient charts in proper sequence and prepares records prior to transfer and discharge.
• Inventories, maintains, and charges supplies; initiates requisitions and requests accurately and timely.
• Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures as needed/directed within unit/department.
