The Starr Ranch Operations and Maintenance technician will work closely with the Field Manager and other local staff. The Technician will be completing day-to-day tasks, including water systems maintenance, mowing, building maintenance, fence repairs, etc. The Technician will notify their supervisor when additional capacity is needed for larger projects. The technician will also support the removal of exotic species and rare habitat restoration projects for the 4,000-acre Audubon Starr Ranch Sanctuary. This position may also be tasked with other Ranch management duties such as data entry, help to summarize data from monitoring and experiments using Microsoft Excel or Google Earth and GIS. The technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment, including brush cutters, mowers, tractors and similar equipment. This person will sometimes be the main point of contact for off-site visitors that may occasionally visit the ranch for tours, bird surveys, or donor events. This is an on-site position with a requirement to live in on-site housing. This is a 6-month, full-time position.
