The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) / IC&E Technician at NAES Corporation plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the Tejas Energy Center, a 247 MW simple-cycle gas-fired electric generating facility. This facility features three Simple Cycle LM6000 PC units and a Siemens 501 D5 gas turbine, which are integral to meeting the peak energy demands in the Houston Zone of ERCOT. The technician is responsible for continuous monitoring of all plant systems, responding promptly to alarms, and executing necessary corrective actions to maintain operational integrity. This includes performing plant shutdown and start-up procedures, ensuring that the facility meets its generating requirements while prioritizing safety and efficiency. In this role, the technician will maintain and repair all instruments, control systems, and mechanical/electrical equipment within the facility. The position requires a high level of skill in inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of all power plant equipment and systems. The technician will operate turbine generators and auxiliaries, observe and record readings of required indicators, and perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, including emergency backup systems. Additionally, the technician will maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings, forecast and reorder spare parts, and assist in the administrative maintenance of plant operating manuals and technical references. The O&M / IC&E Technician will also be involved in troubleshooting and analysis of turbine control systems, safely operating necessary plant equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The role requires physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn during certain duties, and the technician will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes physical examinations and drug screenings. The work schedule entails a 40-hour work week with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as required by plant conditions.
