The operations and maintenance manager position provides direct supervision to the operations and maintenance personnel, ensures the efficient, reliable operation of the facility and ensures compliance with safety, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Department of Energy (DOE), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and environmental standards. This position also performs the functions of the environmental, health and safety coordinator. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor's degree.) Eight years of power plant operations or maintenance related experience, including at least three years supervisory/management responsibilities. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or board of directors. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
