About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Mid-level or Senior Operations Analysis/Systems Engineer to join our Vertical Lift team located in Ridley, PA or Mesa, AZ. The Operations Analysis candidate will have a background in modeling, simulation and model development. Develop, test, verify, troubleshoot and fix models and simulations addressing the operational use and employment of Boeing’s current and future portfolio of vertical lift aircraft and their associated mission equipment and subsystems. Maintain and update existing models and simulations in the vertical lift operations analysis toolkit and utilize models and simulations to develop quantitative metrics for a variety of relevant analyses. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship . Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience programming with C++
  • Familiarity with object oriented programming practices
  • Experience working in a Linux development environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Statistical Concepts - Knowledge of statistical analysis concepts such as normal distribution, standard deviations, mean, probability, and confidence levels.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming with C++
  • Experience in physics-based effects modeling and simulation
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • Advanced Math & System Model - Ability to apply knowledge of advanced mathematical principles as applied to aerospace analysis and modeling (e.g. calculus, differential equations, probability, statistics, transform methods, modeling, computational geometry, numerical linear algebra, optimization, computational math, numerical analysis, discrete and continuous systems).
  • Knowledge of domain expertise and the ability to utilize to fully model a system at appropriate fidelity.

  • Analytical Skills - Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Engineering Knowledge/Comprehension - Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
  • Lifecycle Cost Analysis - Knowledge of lifecycle costs, cost benefits, and cost of ownership analysis, including Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV) and through life support environment.
  • Operational Effective Analysis - Knowledge of operational effectiveness analysis methodologies (e.g. mission and system effectiveness analysis) and tools (e.g., mission simulations; measure of effectiveness; human in the loop simulators, test facilities, and operational evaluations). Analyzing mission effectiveness of vertical lift aircraft through constructive simulation and other means.
  • Statistical Decision Theory - Knowledge of detection and estimation techniques (e.g., maximum likelihood, maximum a posteriori [MAP], non-parametric, constant false alarm rate [CFAR], amplitude/frequency/phase).
  • Knowledge of classification techniques (e.g., pattern recognition, feature extraction, correlation, demodulation, multiple hypothesis tracking, template techniques, neural networks, support vector machines).
  • Systems Thinking - Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance
  • Trade Studies - Knowledge and understanding of the methodology and processes associated with conducting trade studies including cost as an independent variable (CAIV) trades.
  • Communication - Using a variety of media, clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
