Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in OT, industrial automation, controls engineering, or network architecture.
  • Strong understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, and MES technologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA), cybersecurity frameworks, and segmented architectures.
  • Experience deploying or supporting large-scale automation or smart manufacturing systems.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • OT Infrastructure Design & Governance · Develop and maintain the enterprise OT architecture, including network segmentation, industrial firewalls, VLAN design, and device categorization.
  • Establish and govern OT standards for communications between PLCs, HMIs, robotics, SCADA, historians, and data collection systems.
  • Create long-term OT roadmaps that align with automation strategy, cybersecurity requirements, and business objectives.
  • Define equipment connectivity standards to ensure consistent integration into MES, SCADA, and data platforms.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance · Partner with IT to enforce cybersecurity best practices across OT systems, including patching, identity access management, and asset visibility.
  • Lead risk assessments and ensure OT compliance with internal security policies
  • Support creation and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for OT environments.
  • Project Support & Equipment Integration · Provide architectural guidance during specification, design reviews, and commissioning of new automated equipment.
  • Ensure all new systems meet OT standards for connectivity, safety integration, and data availability.
  • Work with Automation, Engineering, and MES/SCADA teams to standardize controls architecture across all new and legacy equipment.
  • Support vendor selection and technical evaluation for hardware, controls platforms, and industrial network solutions.
  • Data & System Integration · Oversee integration of equipment and systems into MES, SCADA, historians, CMMS, and analytic platforms.
  • Define data models, tag structures, naming conventions, and communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, etc.).
  • Lead initiatives to improve data integrity, real-time visibility, and equipment performance monitoring.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership · Serve as the technical authority for OT across all facilities, guiding engineers and technicians through best practices.
  • Partner with Automation, Industrial Engineering, and IT teams to develop consistent solutions for equipment, data, and system interoperability.
  • Mentor and support site-level OT staff to elevate technical capability and standard adoption.
