About The Position

The Operational Risk Analyst at Valley National Bank is responsible for developing and monitoring key risk indicators across the bank's operations. This role involves providing management and board-level reporting on the bank's risk profile, analyzing key risk metrics, and enhancing the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system to streamline operational risk reporting. The analyst will collaborate with various business lines to ensure compliance with risk thresholds and assist in significant risk-related projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a Business-related discipline.
• Minimum of two years' experience in banking and financial services activities.
• Minimum of two years' experience in Risk Management activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Power BI, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using a Risk System (GRC) such as Logic Manager, Metric Stream, or RSA Archer is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Ability to manage correspondence with all levels of bank staff and management.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and identify key risk indicators to monitor bank-wide risks across all risk streams.
• Provide Management and Board level MIS and reporting on the status of the risk profile and program.
• Develop and review key risk indicators (KRI), key performance indicators (KPI), and risk thresholds annually.
• Obtain metric information from business line owners and conduct detailed analysis on results.
• Work with business lines to test results that fall outside defined risk ranges.
• Assist the Head of Operational Risk in analyzing key risk metrics against risk assessment results.
• Oversee and enhance the Governance, Risk - Compliance (GRC) system for operational risk reporting.
• Compile risk data and provide enterprise reporting on a quarterly basis from all lines of business.
• Assist Risk Management on significant risk-related projects and special assessments.
• Utilize Microsoft technology to build and enhance reporting of key metrics.
