Requirements

  • Seeking a bachelor's degree in food safety, food science, microbiology, chemistry or related area having completed junior year prior to starting internship.
  • Strong analytical skills and a love for solving problems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Must be able to accurately do basic math and measuring functions for determining supplier capabilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Plant Operational Quality teams in supporting company Quality and Food Safety initiatives to produce Safe, Quality, and Legal products through the execution of food safety and quality plans.
  • Support plant quality and food safety initiatives by assisting with execution of quality plans and collecting data for root cause analysis, trending, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., R D, Operations, Food Safety) to resolve product quality issues and support decision-making.
  • Conduct basic lab testing, microbiological sampling, and environmental monitoring under supervision.
  • Assist in drafting, communicating, and training on food safety systems, SOPs, and quality documentation.
  • Manage assigned projects with minimal supervision, including planning, scheduling, and presenting findings.
