About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Operational Pharmacy Specialist at Sentara Home Infusion Services in Charlottesville, VA. The Operational Pharmacy Specialist is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services. This role participates in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system while providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to the patients in their assigned areas. The specialist assumes local and system leadership responsibility and accountability for specialized areas of pharmacy operations, demonstrating proactive ownership in pharmacy operations and obtaining advanced certification in their specialized area of practice if available. The position is full-time, with a schedule of 40 hours per week, from 8 am to 5 pm, with no weekends or holidays required.

Responsibilities

• Assures the appropriateness of all provider medication orders in maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.
• Maintains advanced knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations applicable to their area of practice (e.g. compounding, drug diversion, quality and safety).
• Supports the operational training of new employees and participates in the creation and maintenance of operational training materials.
• Assumes local and system responsibility and ownership for assigned tasks related to their area of practice (e.g. compounding, drug diversion, quality and safety).
