About the position

As an Operational Excellence Quality Engineer here at The Farmer's Dog, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest level of quality standards for our human grade pet food products and customer experience. You will be accountable for developing and implementing quality assurance processes, conducting audits and inspections, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation for excellence. You will report directly to our Head of FSQR and you'll work out of our New York City location on an Onsite work schedule. In this role, you will impact the overall quality and reliability of our products and services, ensuring that they meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the FMECA (Failure Modes Effect Criticality Analysis) process.
  • Conduct thorough CAPA and RCA investigations for product and process compliance.
  • Assist in the investigation, root cause analysis, planning, and execution of activities within the CAPA system.
  • Partner with existing CoMans to troubleshoot and resolve non-conformance issues.
  • Collaborate with internal Operations and R&D stakeholders to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures, and sampling programs meet system capability and key consumer requirements.
  • Organize reporting data to produce an overhaul scorecard of quarterly metrics for presentations to Sr. Leadership.
  • Implement, evaluate, and iterate technical quality assurance protocols/methods.
  • Ensure activities and items are in compliance with The Farmer's Dog quality assurance standards, applicable government regulations, and customers’ requirements.
  • Proactively manage new processing and packaging systems to ensure an effective product safety and sanitary design.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering.
  • Experience using quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data.
  • Ability to analyze data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, or areas for improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally to assist in driving quality and process improvements.
  • Experience identifying and implementing training materials or programs on Quality and Continuous Improvement Tools, Systems, and Processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complexity into simple terms.
