About The Position

Exela Pharma Sciences is searching for a talented Operational Buyer to join our Procurement team. Experience within the pharmaceutical industry is not essential, however, we are searching for someone with operational experience in a highly regulated industry (packaging, chemicals, automotive) with a mindset for growth and a desire to create value for Exela and facilitate continuous process improvements. As an Operational Buyer, you will play a vital role in the procurement process by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services for our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that the procurement activities align with the company's goals and objectives, while also maintaining efficient and cost-effective purchasing procedures. The Operational Buyer will collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the supply chain team, finance department, and production teams, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and market knowledge to achieve optimal results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and tools to streamline processes and manage data effectively.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of pricing and specifications.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues and find creative solutions.
  • Proactive and result-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in a senior capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
  • Ability to travel as required

Nice To Haves

  • SAP experience preferred but not necessary

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and provide procurement solutions that meet their needs.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, negotiate purchases, and manage relationships with vendors.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the purchasing team.
  • Manage open purchase orders
