About The Position

The Operational Buyer is responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activities within the medical device supply chain, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials required for production. Working closely with the Material Group Manager, the Operational Buyer plays a critical role in maintaining the flow of materials and services that meet the company’s operational and production needs, while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement operations, inventory control, and supplier relationships in the context of a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of procurement or supply‑chain experience in a cross‑functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills; able to work independently.
  • Ability to build strong supplier relationships and collaborate effectively across functions and levels.
  • Skilled in presenting ideas persuasively and influencing stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of procurement and supply‑chain principles; able to interpret product specs and BOMs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems such as SAP; PLM knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end purchase order creation, tracking, and accuracy to support production schedules and ensure compliance with quality and supply chain policies.
  • Build strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance, resolving day‑to‑day issues, and supporting negotiations on cost, delivery, and contract terms.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Planning teams to forecast material needs, maintain optimal inventory levels, and prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Analyze inventory usage and supplier lead time to recommend efficient reorder points, order quantities, and sourcing strategies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying cost‑saving opportunities, streamlining procurement processes, and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
  • Track procurement spending, supplier KPIs, and material availability, providing clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all procurement activities, contracts, and supplier interactions meet company policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
