About The Position

The Main OR Tech Support position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center involves assisting with the coordination of daily surgical schedules, ensuring that all necessary instrumentation and supplies are prepared and available for surgical procedures. This role is critical in maintaining the efficiency and safety of the operating room environment, particularly during the third shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
• Intermediate knowledge of sterilization preparation and customer service
• Mastery of surgical equipment and related devices.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting
• Certification in surgical technology or related field

Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination of the daily patient surgical schedule.
• Verify instrumentation and supplies according to preference cards and add them to the case cart prior to entry into the operating room.
• Ensure appropriate specialty equipment is available and placed in each operating room before scheduled procedures.
• Assist with the operating room turnover by utilizing proper sterile technique to open supplies and position specialty equipment.
• Respond to emergency calls or requests for cleaning services.
• Prepare the room for procedures to meet special equipment needs.
• Perform instrument sterilization for specialized instruments and turnovers according to AAMI standards.
• Maintain equipment, supply, and instrumentational preparation and cleanliness for surgical procedures.
