Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital utilizes 9 OR rooms with 12-23 cases per day. Coming this fall, expansion to 11 OR rooms! All cases are ortho and/or neuro spine. We are seeking a capable Orthopaedic and Spine Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) and Surgical First Assistant who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population. Shift: 6:30am - 6:00pm Full Time/36 hours Assists attending surgeon, surgical resident and/or physician's assistant during surgical procedures including retraction, hemostasis, suctioning, suturing, suture organization, wound management and other assistance as necessary. Assists in opening and closing the patient's spine. Assists in opening and closing surgical wounds. Performs debridement of primary and secondary closure of muscle flaps. Employees in some areas may be required to assist with bone grafts, as well as, harvest and prepare bone graft for spinal fusion. Assists in spine procedures including anterior cervical discectomy/fusion, posterior cervical fusion, anterior thoracic/lumbar decompression/fusion, posterior thoracic/lumbar decompression/fusion, and insertion of spinal instruments. Preps, positions, catharizes, and drapes patients and assists in exposing and suturing wounds. Complies with and adheres to departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
