About The Position

The Operating Room (OR) Supervisor provides day‑to‑day leadership and operational oversight for the surgical services team, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality perioperative care. This role supports the coordination of staffing, workflow, patient throughput, and regulatory compliance within the operating room environment. The OR Supervisor serves as a key liaison between patients, families, surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and support departments. This position promotes excellence in clinical practice, fosters a collaborative team culture, and ensures adherence to all safety, quality, and patient care standards across the perioperative continuum.

Requirements

  • Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
  • One (1) or more years of supervisory experience in a critical care setting
  • Two (2) or more years of nursing experience
  • Fourteen (14) Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
  • One (1) Year: Certified Perioperative Nurse certification within one (1) year of being eligible as tracked by the department’s clinical educator. Exceptions may be granted by the Director of Surgery Services.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing

  • Surgical Services experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages OR nursing, support, and secretarial services in absence of the manager to insure complete and competent patient care.
  • Coordinates with other organizational patient care services to promote continuity of care and flow of required information.
  • Develops, maintains, and oversees the operating room staffing schedule to ensure appropriate coverage based on surgical volume and daily OR needs.
  • Collaborates closely with charge nurses to create and manage weekend, holiday, off-shift, and on-call schedules to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient workflow across all perioperative services.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for nurses, patients, and relatives regarding patient care and related activities.
  • Ensures quality of nursing services rendered by the department.
  • Participates in pre-employment interviews and assist with performance evaluations as requested by the Director of Surgery Services.
  • Participates in the in-service training program, including orientation of new nursing personnel and continuing staff development.
  • Ensures commitment to department goals/objectives and aids in implementation of strategic plans.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of nursing service objectives, standards of nursing practice, nursing policy and procedure manuals.
  • Recommends physical facilities, equipment, and supplies needed to carry out operating room nursing services.
