About The Position

The Operating Room RN (OR & PACU) position is responsible for providing circulating and/or scrub nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures. The RN assists the surgical team as needed in other capacities according to established procedures and is expected to perform PACU/pre-op/post-op duties. The role requires the ability to work on an as-needed basis for clinical work. The RN must work as scheduled with other RNs, take surgery call as scheduled (including holidays and weekends), and must be within 20 minutes of the hospital when on call. The hours and days are subject to change, and the RN will cover OR positions as the team and scheduling necessitate. Essential functions include admitting and/or discharging patients, providing care during surgical procedures, working with physicians and other team members to ensure patient safety, documenting procedural care, and monitoring the medical condition of patients throughout the surgical process.

Requirements

  • A college degree in nursing.
  • One year experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferred.
  • A current license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Attend CEUs as necessary to maintain and broaden skills.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Kansas or work permit from the State Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required or must complete BLS certification within one month of employment.
  • ACLS and PALS certification is required and must be completed within 6 months of employment.
  • TNCC and NRP certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor medical condition of patients throughout the surgical process and report changes to appropriate personnel.
