JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD WORK SHIFT: (As Needed) Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm. No call, No weekends, No Holidays. JOB SUMMARY: Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care for these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation and other health care team members. Supervises the activities of Surgical Techs, Schedulers and OR Assistants. The perioperative nurse is accountable for planning and directing the care of every patient undergoing operative and invasive procedures. The perioperative nurse directs and supervises the surgical team members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing
  • Current Louisiana RN License
  • Current BLS, PALS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred one (1) year Operating Room experience
  • CNOR preferred
