About The Position

A Trauma Center in the Kansas City metro area is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join its dynamic perioperative team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration. The OR RN will provide safe, patient-centered care across a wide variety of surgical specialties while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence in the Operating Room. This full-service acute care hospital offers comprehensive specialty services including Level I Trauma, Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, Orthopedics, Women’s Services, Cardiovascular programs, and advanced surgical care. The hospital is part of a large regional healthcare network serving the Kansas City area. Requirements

  • 1+ year of recent OR RN experience (Scrub and/or Circulating experience required)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)
  • Current Missouri RN license or multistate compact license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and perioperative care.
  • Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy, medication administration, and surgical site verification.
  • Participate in time-outs, briefings, debriefings, and universal protocol compliance.
  • Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Deliver evidence-based, high-quality patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Accurately assess, document, and communicate changes in patient condition.
