About The Position

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) at Proliance Surgeons, Inc. is responsible for providing pre-surgical nursing assessments and education to patients prior to their admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. This role involves assessing patient care needs, coordinating pre-surgical clearances, and ensuring optimal care throughout the surgical experience. The position is per diem, offering flexibility in scheduling with no night, weekend, or holiday shifts.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS, and PALS accreditation.
  • Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care, or Emergency Room experience is desired.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to use a computer.
  • Knowledge of applicable specialties and outpatient clinical organizational ability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-surgical nursing assessments and provide education to patients prior to admission.
  • Assess and evaluate the care needs of patients and request necessary pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics.
  • Communicate the patient's plan of care to the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to provide optimal patient care.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center.
  • Ensure that proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for procedures.
  • Monitor the use of all supplies and assist with inventory control.
  • Document appropriately the care provided to patients.
  • Engage in continuing education to meet state requirements and stay current with healthcare changes.
  • Display professionalism as a representative of the Center.
  • Take an active role on committees within the department.
  • Identify actual and potential risks to patients and take action to minimize or eliminate risks.
