About The Position

The Operating Room Nurse at Blue River Surgery Center plays a crucial role in delivering excellent patient care in an ambulatory surgery setting. This position involves overseeing surgical procedures, managing patient care, and ensuring a safe and effective environment for surgeries. The nurse will work closely with surgeons and other medical staff to facilitate smooth transitions between procedures and maintain high standards of nursing care.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
• Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure.
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
• ACLS certification as required by facility.
• CNOR certification preferred.

• Experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting.
• Additional certifications in nursing specialties.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the instrument and equipment set-up for the operating room, including utilization of preference cards and anticipating surgeons' needs.
• Coordinate and oversee the operating room during surgical cases as the circulator.
• Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between surgical procedures.
• Utilize appropriate body mechanics in moving patients to stretchers and operating room tables to prevent injury.
• Manage patient care and medication, including assistance with anesthesia.
• Consistently review charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols before and after surgical procedures.
