About The Position

Perform assigned tasks to aid in the provision of patient care and daily operation of the Surgical Suite in accordance with established nursing policies and procedures. Provide patient care under the direction of the professional registered nurse appropriate to the ages of patients served.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.
Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.
Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary.
Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting
Ability to lift and/or carry up to/over 50 pounds.
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and latex.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year nursing case assistant experience.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and special nursing procedures as delegated by the professional registered nurse.
Provide comfort, support, and safety measures appropriate to the ages of patients served
Provide and assists in meeting the patient's care needs appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities.
Positions, mobilizes, and transports patients according to designated plan of care and direction from the professional registered nurse or designee appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment.
Maintains general cleanliness of unit and restocks appropriately.
Reports to Department Director/designee and equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications
Maintains department's sterilization records.
Performs other duties as assigned.
