About The Position

The OR Assistant Manager, under the direct supervision of the OR Department Manager, will perform the general duties as described by the Central Services/Sterile Processing Technician /EVS job description and in addition will manage/supervise/coordinate the Central Services Department and the EVS Team. The OR Assistant Manager, under the direct supervision of the OR Manager, will perform the general duties as described by the Surgical Technician job description and in addition will manage/supervise/coordinate the Scrub Technicians in the OR Department.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Sterile Processing and Surgical Services or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum two years experience working in an Operating Room in Sterile Processing or Surgical Services and as a Surgical Technician required.
  • Previous management experience and bilingual preferred.
  • Sterile Processing certification through HSPA or CBSPD required within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain current Policies, Staff Evaluations and Schedule for Central Sterile and EVS Departments.
  • Oversee and maintain current Policies and daily coordination of Surgical Technicians.
  • Assume responsibility for procurement of Vendor Required equipment and supplies for cases, including coordination of any required arrival and return of equipment and supplies.
  • Gather worksheets for upcoming cases, determining supply and equipment needs for each case.
  • Coordinate with vendors on attendance for cases, as required.
  • Coordinate with the OR Manager and Purchasing Department on ordering instruments for Mammoth Hospital owned trays and consignment trays.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing Department on ordering and inventory of any required stock supplies.
  • Daily/weekly coordination with Perioperative Materials Buyer regarding restock of supplies required for cases.
  • Promptly order and replace any damaged instruments needed for cases.
  • Develop an enhanced approach to preserve the sterility and integrity of our single peel pack instruments.
  • Assure that all consignment trays are being restocked after use.
  • Assure that all trays have current and up-to-date count sheets.
  • In coordination with the Purchasing Department, establish designated areas for storing critical trauma instruments.
  • Assure continual communication with the Scrub Tech team if any tray locations are changed, moved, updated, etc.
  • Ensure that the information is updated on the inventory count sheet.
