Operating Engineer - Healthcare What this job involves: At JLL, we are seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to join our healthcare facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, controls, plumbing systems, and mechanical operating equipment throughout the building's interior and exterior. You'll conduct regular assessments of building systems operations, perform tests, complete monitoring rounds, and analyze data to ensure all mechanical and electrical systems function optimally. Requirements

  • High school diploma or state equivalent
  • Minimum of two years related trade schooling or two years of college
  • Four years of experience in electrical, HVAC/refrigeration, or emergency backup systems
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local building codes
  • Strong skills in using tools and machinery required for facility maintenance
  • Ability to complete painting, carpentry, and equipment repair under specific infection control conditions
  • Commitment to departmental policies for safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Physical capability to perform technical maintenance work in various environments

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor operations of refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical systems, emergency backup systems and hot water systems
  • Make necessary adjustments to maintain refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, ventilation systems, hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping and filters
  • Analyze system operations, identify root causes of malfunctions, and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on base building and critical systems with minimal disruption to facility operations
  • Install and repair plumbing, piping, and tubing; wire single and three-phase motors; run conduit and pull wiring to machinery
  • Install and rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangers; replace bearings and pump seals
  • Maintain electrical controls, switching mechanisms, and motor controls to ensure reliable operation
  • Document equipment repairs, maintain accurate logs, close work orders, and communicate effectively with the Operations Manager and Lead Engineer
