The Buffett Scholars Coordinator of Programming & Mentoring plays a key role in supporting the academic success, retention, and overall college experience of students receiving the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship at UNO. This position leads engagement efforts for Buffett Scholars, including the development and facilitation of signature programs such as community dinners, recognition ceremonies, and collaborative events across campus. The Coordinator also provides oversight for mentoring and upper-class engagement, helping track student progress toward graduation and post-college goals. The Coordinator serves as a point of contact for the MavMentor peer mentoring program, co-leading the hiring, training, and supervision of peer mentors. In addition, they maintain a small caseload of students, occasionally teach a university seminar, and offer personalized academic, personal, and resource-based support to ensure students remain in good standing with Buffett Foundation requirements and make progress toward graduation. In collaboration with faculty and staff, the Coordinator identifies opportunities to foster student belonging and engagement. They serve on campus committees to support broader university initiatives, investing time and presence with Buffett Scholars and students in an assigned college to help students holistically.
