Acuity is seeking a Document Composition Developer to join their agile team responsible for creating digital and paper form solutions for employees, agents, and policyholders using OpenText Exstream and Compuset composition language. The role involves collaborating with business partners, coding, testing, and debugging programs, while adhering to standards and maintaining documentation.

  • Communicates effectively with business and technical partners to review and understand functional requirements and specifications.
  • Translates technical terms for non-technical users to efficiently resolve problems.
  • Assists other teams with project implementations.
  • Demonstrates willingness and aptitude to learn design software with minimal supervision.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of document compositions, style sheets, variables, tables, and document flow.
  • Designs, analyzes, develops, and tests document composition solutions in OpenText Exstream while adhering to pre-established guidelines and corporate standards.
  • Creates functions or formulas for re-use as needed in the design of documents.
  • Understands data structures and data mapping specifications for XML and schema models per W3C standards.
  • Adds, updates, and deletes document templates and components in the document repository.
  • Generates Postscript, PDF, email, archival, and other delivery formats.
  • Codes production and test Compuset applications for Metaprint and PDF formats.
  • Prepares and tests JCL for production and development jobs.
  • Supports and adheres to the development lifecycle associated with developing, testing, and promoting document templates and components.
  • Checks production processing for errors, determines the cause, and either corrects or refers to the proper resource.
  • Participates in the nightly call list for problem resolution.
  • Creates, maintains, and closes tasks in the project system.
  • Records worked hours accurately in the time reporting system.
  • Follows department standards and procedures and recognizes when changes to these may be justified.
  • Remains current on changes in the insurance industry and printing areas.
  • Maintains documentation and workflow diagrams.
  • Alerts the General Manager IS or Manager IS of any problems or delays.
  • Acts for the manager when absent.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with OpenText Exstream or similar customer communication management tools preferred.
  • Experience with VBScript, VBA, JavaScript, or other scripting or programming languages needed.
  • Knowledge of XML/XSD and data mapping preferred.
  • Familiarity with print technologies and terminology helpful.
  • Strong technical skills with aptitude for system development.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of document creation terminology.
  • Capable of following detailed instructions.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proof effectively.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
