About The Position

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois (UIUC) invites applications for a full-time, 12 month, open rank faculty position in Food Animal Medicine, Reproduction and Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching (clinical, didactic and laboratory) and clinical service. This position is available as either a tenure-track or clinical-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, supportive, and dynamic team of four FARMS (Food Animal Reproductive and Medicine Service) clinicians and additional extension and research faculty committed to excellence in food animal teaching, clinical care, and scholarship. The FARMS service is a cornerstone of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and maintains strong relationships with local producers referring veterinarians, and UIUC research and teaching herds.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Completion of a residency program in Large Animal Internal Medicine.
  • Diplomate status or board eligibility with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Illinois.
  • Eligibility for USDA accreditation.

  • Advanced graduate degree (e.g., MS or PhD) in a relevant area of Biological Sciences.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity and commitment to advancing the field of food animal medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching clinical, didactic, and laboratory courses.
  • Providing clinical service in Food Animal Medicine, Reproduction, and Surgery.
  • Participating in after-hours emergency services on a rotating basis.
  • Mentoring and training DVM students during their FARMS rotations.
  • Supervising and mentoring house officers, including residents and interns.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities aligned with professional interests.
  • Collaborating with other specialties within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
