About The Position

Coordinates volunteer, education, and other activities to implement the Dallas County Open Space Program. Responsibilities 1. Coordinates, promotes and implements the County Open Space Program objectives established and adopted by Commissioners Court. 2. Develops and provides reports with supporting documentation as necessary for board meetings and for status reports to the Court Administrator. 3. Provides the Open Space Administrator and Director Planning and Development information to review preserve project progress. 4. Reviews, maintains, and updates the overall County Open Space volunteer efforts including managing volunteer projects and events. 5. Works directly with Open Space member city staff, maintenance organizations, and volunteers. 6. Creates and maintains relationships with educational institutions, wildlife and habitat organizations, and other relevant for and non-profit agencies to coordinate activities in the Open Space Preserves. 7. Represents Dallas County in local organizations, on committees and in workshops. 8. Manages wildlife, botanical, and cultural resources within County preserves and parks. 9. Assists in implementing a Risk Management Program for the Park and Preserve System, which addresses the special requirements of individual preserves and parks. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study and four (4) years’ experience in an event coordinating, planning or related position dealing with the public and volunteer workers. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Strong biological science, anthropology, archaeology background. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Standard office environment. Ability to traverse parks and preserves.
