About The Position

The Center for Economics, Politics & History at the University of Austin invites applications and nominations for a full-time professor of economics (any rank) faculty position to begin as early as Summer 2026. Applicants should have a strong interest in teaching undergraduate economics as well as research. As a new university entering our third year of full-time operations, we seek to hire faculty at all levels with particular needs for microeconomics, economic growth, finance, and public policy. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with quantitative and empirical methods. Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, or degree conferred by the start date. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2025.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field, with a focus on microeconomics.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Strong commitment to UATX’s mission of free inquiry, open debate, and intellectual diversity.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full load of six quarter-length courses per year (typically two per term), contributing to the development of undergraduate syllabi for core courses and bringing creativity and breadth of knowledge to classroom design.
• Participate actively in faculty meetings, guest lectures, and campus events, helping to sustain and enrich the intellectual life of the university.
• Mentor students with an interest in economics and the social sciences, guiding their academic development and future plans.
• Advance UATX’s mission of civil discourse by fostering an environment of open inquiry in both teaching and research, modeling academic freedom and respectful debate.
