About The Position

The Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of North Carolina is seeking a full-time, open rank tenure/tenure track physician-scientist to contribute to the division’s research mission in the areas of laboratory or clinical research and to provide clinical care to our patients. The faculty member will be appointed to the G. Denman Hammon Professorship in Childhood Cancer. The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics consists of 17 faculty members and 16 nurse practitioners. Areas of oncological expertise in the division include hematopoietic and solid tumor treatments. Cancer focused investigators in the division are also members of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Rated Exceptional by the National Cancer Insitute, UNC Lineberger has more than 400 members spanning more than 40 departments across the university, including UNC Gillings School of Public Health and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Areas of pediatric cancer expertise in UNC Lineberger include genomics, drug discovery, chromatin biology and cellular immunotherapies, including first-in-children CAR -T cell clinical trials. The responsibilities of this position will be shared between research and clinical commitments. The candidate will lead and administer an independent research program. Joint appointment to a basic science department or graduate curriculum may be available based on research and teaching interests. The selected applicant will also be involved in the education mission of the institution with opportunities to teach postdoctoral clinical and research fellows, residents, and medical and graduate students. The candidate will provide coverage on our inpatient hematology-oncology unit. Preference will be given to candidates with a history of independent funding and a long-term commitment to research and teaching.
