About The Position

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking Medical Assistants for its busy clinics, specifically for the CU Medicine Weight Management Clinic. The Medical Assistant (MA) will provide patient care under the direction of a physician or healthcare provider, facilitating clinic workflow and ensuring safe delivery of care. Responsibilities include rooming patients, recording vital signs, processing telephone messages, preparing prescription refills, maintaining patient confidentiality, and documenting care provided.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program OR one year of medical assistant work experience.
  • For Certified Medical Assistant: Completion of an accredited medical assistant program and one year of medical assistant work experience.
  • Current CMA certification (i.e., AAMA, NCCT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Maintains all required licensures and certifications for the position.
  • Must be able to work in person.
  • Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately room patients, obtain & record vital signs, patient history, and reason for seeking care.
  • Accurately processes and records telephone messages in patient medical records and according to policy.
  • Assists in preparing prescription refills for providers according to policy.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, written and verbal.
  • Communicates effectively and in an attentive manner with every patient encounter.
  • Verifies patient’s understanding of the purpose of the visit.
  • Accurately documents all care provided and procedures performed within the patient’s medical record.
