About The Position

The Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Clinical Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured open-rank faculty to serve in the Divisions of Anesthesia for Nurses and Pathologists’ Assistant Studies. Both divisions are housed within the Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Health Professions. These divisions are dedicated to preparing competent and compassionate Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and Pathologists’Assistants, ready to meet the needs of our communities through high-quality didactic education, clinical instruction, interprofessional collaboration, and outcomes-based research. Our faculty and staff strive to improve population health by developing and inspiring healthcare leaders. This faculty position includes opportunities for teaching, curriculum development, student advising, and scholarly contributions. Faculty members are expected to foster strong relationships with students, ensuring high-quality training experiences for students, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Department of Clinical Sciences’ programs. This position is tenured track eligible, and academic rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College of Health Professions is one of six colleges of South Carolina’s only academic health center and is among the largest colleges by student numbers at MUSC. Requirements

  • Experience in faculty instruction in nurse anesthesia, pathologists’ assistants, or related fields.
  • Strong foundation in basic and clinical sciences.
  • Advanced degree in a related healthcare field.

Nice To Haves

  • The most competitive candidates will have:
  • A record of expertise in didactic education and student evaluation in the human sciences including physiology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
  • Experience in curriculum development, academic scholarship, and professional association involvement, and faculty instruction.
  • Experience in cadaver dissection.
  • Experience in virtual reality anatomy dissection technology.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty Instruction & Academic Duties Contribute to student instruction as a course director.
  • Participate in high-fidelity simulation throughout the didactic year and aid in maintaining dissection labs and equipment.
  • Share didactic teaching responsibilities within the AFN, Path-A, and other DCS divisions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality educational content.
  • Support curriculum development to align with educational and clinical instruction goals.
  • Engage in interprofessional education initiatives to promote collaboration across healthcare disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the division director and other DCS faculty in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
  • Serve as a mentor and academic advisor to students providing guidance in academic progress.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, program committees, and accreditation preparation as requested.
  • Collaborate in service to the division, department, college and university.
  • Scholarship & Professional Engagement Contribute to scholarly activities, research, presentations, and publications within your expertise.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current in the field.
