The Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is seeking applications for an open rank faculty position in the Department of Bioengineering. This position is available for both tenure-track and tenured candidates who are highly motivated and share the entrepreneurial spirit of the BCOE faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the areas of teaching, research, and service. Candidates should be prepared to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs, particularly in the fields of neuroengineering or computational bioengineering. The Bioengineering Department currently comprises 20 core faculty members, including several distinguished fellows from various professional organizations. The faculty engage in cutting-edge research across five focus areas: biomaterials/regenerative medicine, biomedical imaging, computational bioengineering, molecular and cellular bioengineering, and neuroengineering. The department is part of the Bioengineering Interdepartmental Graduate Program (BIG), which includes an additional 50 faculty members from UCR. The department offers a range of degree programs, including BS, BS/MS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees, with a diverse student body of approximately 75 graduate and 350 undergraduate students. The graduate program is noted for its gender balance and representation of underrepresented minorities. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a vibrant externally-funded research program and maintain a portfolio of high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. UC faculty are required to maintain an active research agenda, publish regularly, teach a standard course load, and engage in service activities at various levels. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to complement and synergistically leverage existing research activities within the department and college. The position is open to both junior and senior candidates. Junior candidates should demonstrate exceptional promise in research and teaching, while senior candidates must have a proven record of success in Bioengineering or a related field. Appointments are anticipated to begin on July 1, 2025, and candidates must meet the PhD requirements by the time of appointment. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, and advancement through faculty ranks is based on structured, merit-based evaluations every 2-3 years, incorporating substantial peer input.
