About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami (UM) in Miami, Florida is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and the UHealth Jackson Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center, with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, to provide care for pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease as well as young adults with congenital heart disease.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have an MD/DO, be board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
  • Licensed or eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida medical license and DEA

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in UM satellite and Jackson Health System pediatric cardiology outpatient clinics, the Jackson Main Hospital emergency room, Jackson Main Hospital inpatient wards, and in the intensive care units (neonatal, pediatric, and cardiac) at the Holtz Children's/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
  • Contribute to the perioperative evaluation and management of infants, children, adolescents and adults who undergoing cardiac (heart) surgery and/or cardiac catheterization and will provide consultation for hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
  • Perform and interpret transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms as well as interpreting ECGs, Holter monitor recordings, and metabolic and exercise stress tests in accordance with prior training.
  • Participate actively in teaching, through formal and informal case discussions/presentation, to medical students, residents, fellows, nurses and faculty members on various topics related to the field of Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and new projects initiatives to broaden and enhance the Division's scope of practice.
  • Participate in research and other scholarly activity, including collaboration with other pediatric subspecialists is strongly encouraged, however, the faculty member may be responsible for securing independent funding.
  • Grants and various sources of research funding may be available from within the Division, Department of Pediatrics, and the School of Medicine.
