About The Position

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist must demonstrate clinical experience and excellence with children and adolescents and the ability to manage different acuity levels, broadly including children and their families in outpatient, inpatient units, emergency department, partial hospitalization, consultation-liaison, and primary and specialty care settings. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to apply and implement evidence-based approaches to care. A history of teaching and mentoring residents, and medical students, and working with milieu staff is also desired. Scholarly activities are encouraged and supported. The psychiatrist position will serve a diverse population of patients Along with open rank, there may be an opportunity to work in additional clinical and/or research settings based on skillset and program needs.

  • Rank at the time of appointment will be based on the candidate’s demonstrated contributions and experience in teaching, clinical, research, and/or service to the field.   • This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO
  • Applicants must possess a Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, and Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.
  • Must obtain medical staff privileges within Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting, having completed a child/adolescent residency, academic/residency program-related experience highly desirable.
  • Must be board certified within 3 years
  • 4-7 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO
  • Applicants must possess a Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, and Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.
  • Must obtain medical staff privileges within Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting, having completed a child/adolescent residency, academic/residency program-related experience highly desirable.
  • Must be board certified within 3 years
  • 7+ years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO
  • Applicants must possess a Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, and Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.
  • Must obtain medical staff privileges within Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting, having completed a child/adolescent residency, academic/residency program-related experience highly desirable.
  • Must be board certified within 3 years
  • Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted assessments in integrated care settings
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Experience developing, training, and supervising psychology trainees
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry, and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Knowledge regarding clinical research regulations and principles of ethical conduct.
  • Knowledge, experience, and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.
  • Knowledge and a general understanding of university curriculum/education and professional development programs.
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, residents, students, alumni, and administrative personnel at all levels including outside organizations and the public.

  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and think critically
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical faculty and staff in psychiatry.

  • Experience developing, training, and supervising psychology trainees.

  • Clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Able to perform initial psychiatric diagnostic interviews, develop and follow through with treatment plans, and maintain timely and focused documentation through the electronic medical record.
  • Ability to apply and implement evidence-based approaches to care including using evidence-based guidelines for prescriptions and monitoring medications in the pediatric population
  • Develop, train, and supervise trainees of various disciplines.
  • Psychiatrists in Colorado Springs may serve in the Outpatient Clinic, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP),and Consultation Services (CL, ED, Crisis)
