About The Position

We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's student body as an Assistant/Associate/Professor of the School of Rehabilitation Services & Counseling beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. Requirements

  • Earned a Doctoral Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • For those who have not graduated from a CACREP-accredited program, it is expected to have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least a full academic year before July 1st, 2013.
  • Research record commensurate with years after the doctoral degree.

  • Excellence in scholarly work demonstrated in terms of refereed publications.
  • Ability to secure external funding demonstrated in terms of successful grantsmanship.
  • Graduate and Undergraduate level teaching experiences and clinical experience with a diverse disability population in the field of rehabilitation counseling.
  • Excellence in leadership and advocacy relevant to rehabilitation counseling.
  • Clinical and teaching experience in counseling and counseling skill development, including online/virtual formats.
  • Excellence in quantitative and qualitative methodology and statistical analysis used in the field of rehabilitation counseling.
