About The Position

The Virginia Tech School of Architecture is seeking applications for a Tenured/Tenure Track position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. This role is based at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Campus (WAAC) and focuses on connecting theory with innovative practice through teaching, scholarship, and community engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to the architectural education and well-being of communities, emphasizing diversity and inclusion in the profession.

Requirements

• Terminal degree in architecture by the appointment start date.
• Professional licensure, accreditations, and substantive practice experience.
• Proven ability in studio and seminar teaching.
• Successful communication of rigorous research inquiry.

• A PhD in architecture or a related field.
• Excellence in communication, collaboration, and cross-cultural and/or cross-disciplinary work.
• Commitment to humane, socially-engaged design.

Responsibilities

• Teach an Integrative Design Lab or upper-level Design Lab for graduate or undergraduate students for both semesters.
• Teach a required course or professional elective in the professional degree programs.
• Provide Architecture Licensing advising and internship advising to students.
• Serve as a liaison to professional organizations.
• Engage in research and scholarship that aligns with the mission of Virginia Tech.

Benefits

• Salary range of $85,000-140,000, commensurate with rank.
• Regular appointment with a full-time nine-month contract.
