Requirements

• Minimum one year’s surface drilling experience using various drilling units
• Would have thorough knowledge of drill patterns and the structure in which they are developed
• MSHA p.48 metal/nonmetal ticket is required; training and support is provided to obtain or update certificate as needed
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Responsibilities

• Operation of a platform drill Cat 6200 and a Sandvik Leopard DI650i
• Operates and understands mechanics of a top head drilling unit equipped with multi-function joy sticks and GPS on a mine site
• Comply with all company, client, legislated safety policies and procedures of drilling in a large open pit surface mine
• Understands the limitations of the drill rig and the performances it can safely provide
• Detects and perform small mechanical repairs to the drill
• Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members when needed with the ability to work with minimal supervision
