About The Position

In this position... IPTSE Ongoing Product Development (OPD) is part of Ford Motor Company’s Product Development Quality organization. OPD engineers are responsible for identifying, containing and resolving ongoing quality issues after product launch. OPD engineers will work closely with the Thermal Cooling and Climate Systems design teams, calibration, manufacturing, plant vehicle teams and core quality. This position is responsible for Thermal Cooling and Climate system quality and is part of team responsible for IPTSE (Internal Combustion Engine - Propulsion - Thermal Systems Engineering) overall quality. What you'll do... Contain and resolve ongoing low time in service (LTIS) quality issues past product launch. Define and investigate issues including developing trends based on vehicle line, time in service, operating conditions, locations and other critical factors. Support and provide relevant information for containment actions including quality holds, stop ships. Prepare for product and manufacturing quality meetings Manage weekly warranty claims LTIS (0 – 3 MIS) for engine system components and work with propulsion team to triage of top issues. Support special studies to deep dive issues and calculate reliability forecasts as needed. Work with FCSD to support efforts to reduce the cost per repair

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree; or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • 1+ Years of engineering experience in quality, product development or manufacturing
  • Proficient in MS OFFICE
  • Proficient in 8D problem solving methodology.
  • CAD/Catia Experience
  • Ability to work effectively with various functions.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of engine component engineering experience
  • Six Sigma Certification (Green / Blackbelt)
