About The Position

In this role, you will report to the manager of site services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Location: Cedar Rapids, IA Shift: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will: Independently manage inventory and material handling activities for consumables, chemicals, samples, and other critical materials. Execute inventory control processes including receiving, storage, handling, distribution, and inventory movement. Conduct cycle counts and annual physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Perform purchasing and procurement transactions including order entry, expediting, and invoice resolution. Handle hazardous materials and prepare shipping documentation in compliance with regulations. Analyze inventory data to identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions. Communicate findings, resolutions, and recommendations to internal and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, procurement, materials management, or related operations within a laboratory, production, or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in chemical handling.
  • Able to lift 50lbs. required
  • Inventory control principles and best practices
  • Materials management in laboratory or regulated production environments
  • Hazardous material handling and shipping requirements
  • Inventory and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, VWR+, ChemSW, Citrix, or similar platforms)
  • Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and compliance requirements
  • Documentation and record management
  • Clear, professional communication with internal and customer stakeholders
  • Time management and prioritization

Responsibilities

  • Completion of cycle counts and physical inventories per schedule.
  • Independent investigation and resolution of non-routine inventory issues.
  • Implementation of corrective actions within established procedures.
  • Reduction in repeat inventory discrepancies through applied solutions.
  • Accurate and timely order entry and procurement processing.
  • Resolution of invoicing and pricing discrepancies within expected timeframes.
  • Maintenance of complete and accurate documentation.
  • Accurate capture and analysis of inventory data.
  • Timely reporting of inventory metrics and findings.
  • Demonstrated improvement in inventory accuracy or data integrity following corrective action.
  • Adherence to all safety, regulatory, and SOP requirements.
  • Zero tolerance for unsafe handling or documentation lapses related to hazardous materials.
