About The Position

Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as an On-site Service Technician II focused Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in the Vallen Safety Services group! In this position, you will perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on safety equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Requirements

  • High School or GED.
  • Minimum 2 Certifications (manufacturer/state) in a related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Specific relevant experience.
  • Experience in the Inspection, Testing, Maintenance and Repair of Life Safety Equipment.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
  • Advanced Industry segment knowledge.
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Able to provide assistance, advice and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).

Responsibilities

  • Conducting service calls.
  • Identifying equipment discrepancies.
  • Preparing accurate and timely Technician Worksheets (TWS) and reports.
  • Providing customer service in the area of Inspecting, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs of Life Safety Equipment, including Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose, Gas Detection Monitors, Respiratory Equipment, Fall Protection Equipment and Safety Shower / Eyewash Units.
  • Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.
  • Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.
  • Exhibiting safe work practices.
  • Assisting in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
  • Using company provided assets such as Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
  • Maintaining proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.
