About The Position

The Field Service Technician provides technical support for specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning communication system infrastructure, and optimizing RF and Broadband architecture. This encompasses legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Certifications: Security +, CompTIA, or a related certification is highly desirable.
  • At least one network certification (e.g., Network +, CCNA, NRS1) is also ideal.
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
  • Strong knowledge of wired communication systems (LAN/WAN) is essential.
  • Must be capable of maintaining server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshooting related issues.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, and wired/wireless communication systems and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of R.F. systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks) is preferred.
  • Understanding of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques is also preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Experience (Preferred): Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, Centracom, MCC Console systems, Secure Operations, and ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and installation procedures.
  • P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios, and consoles.
  • LTE or Private LTE Nokia system knowledge, Juniper Routers, and Aruba Switches configuration.
  • Strong skills in using various communication test equipment, including Ethernet Link test sets and/or Digital RF Power Meters.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, optimize, test, and meticulously document complex communication systems.
  • Submit weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance routines to ensure optimal system operation, with a focus on trend analysis and thorough documentation.
  • Develop effective solutions for challenging technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, or support.
  • Maintain comprehensive familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize, and support advanced communication systems, exceeding customer expectations.
