About The Position

The Onsite DOT Delivery Driver is responsible for the quality delivery, pickup, and relocation of customer packages and mail in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with customer requirements. This position requires full compliance with Federal DOT regulations and adherence to all Delivery Safety Standards.

Requirements

  • Safe driving record and history
  • Eligibility to operate a commercial vehicle in accordance with FMCSR regulations
  • Valid driver’s license maintained in accordance with company policy
  • Successful completion of a road test
  • Valid and current medical card
  • Minimum age of 20 years and properly licensed in state of residence
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), if required per state regulations
  • Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS systems
  • Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight packages
  • Ability to identify at-risk behaviors and make quick corrective actions
  • Strong customer presentation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with smartphones, tablets, and handheld electronic technology
  • Adequate reading, math, and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain certification for operating warehouse equipment (forklift, stair climber, pallet jack, etc.), if required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and purchase order (PO) processing
  • Load and secure packages and mail safely in boxed vans or trucks
  • Pick up mail and packages from designated customer pickup locations
  • Deliver mail and packages to correct delivery points
  • Maintain logbooks in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual)
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and compliant with DOT and state regulations
  • Participate in company safety programs and initiatives
  • Pre-call customers when applicable
  • Provide strong customer service and maintain professional interactions
  • Identify customer needs and take appropriate action, referring issues when necessary
  • Maintain professional dress and appearance per site dress code
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurately completed and properly processed
  • Load and off-load trucks as required
  • Follow all accident and incident reporting guidelines and procedures
  • Meet productivity and quality standards as outlined by management
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks (certification may be required)
  • Lift and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Assist with backup training for new delivery drivers on current routes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
