About The Position

In this role, you will report to the manager of site services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. The work done changes people's lives for the better, bringing new patient treatments and therapies to market, and enabling medical devices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in material handling, inventory replenishment, warehouse operations, laboratory support, or customer service.
  • Microsoft Office experience, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety policies, and security clearances.
  • Solid understanding and experience in shipping, inventory management, purchasing, warehouse operations, or laboratory support.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional, can-do attitude.
  • High regard for safety, quality, and strict adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-manage, self-motivate, and demonstrate forward-thinking problem-solving skills.
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine material handling tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, laboratory personnel, and internal contacts.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of scientific products, laboratory operations, and services is a plus.
  • Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG, and OSHA Right to Know certifications are a plus.
  • Cross-referencing and inside sales experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scientific products and laboratory services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute inventory management-related functions such as monitoring slow-moving and dead inventory, conducting cycle counts, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.
  • Provides daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management and laboratory support needs.
  • Complete purchasing functions, including but not limited to backorder reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, third-party support, managing quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.
  • Responsible for all customer service-related functions, including but not limited to order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.
  • Execute shipping coordination activities such as shipping customer material, handling routine issues, operating basic warehouse equipment, entering shipping information into the customer computer system, and completing equipment inspections.
  • Responsible for handling hazardous materials and preparing shipping documentation and packaging in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides laboratory support services, which may include: Glassware washing and drying (glasswash)
  • Stocking laboratory consumables and supplies
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of designated laboratory support areas
  • Supporting routine laboratory setup and teardown as directed
  • Interfaces directly with customer points of contact, purchasing directors, facility directors, laboratory personnel, and plant managers.
  • Responsible for managing consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, or third-party inventory.
  • Utilizes VWR and customer computer systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, VWR+, ChemSW, and other customer-specific systems) to fulfill job duties.
  • Meets established goals and objectives related to safety, performance, and quality.
  • Creates programs and process improvements to enhance service efficiencies.
  • Interfaces with VWR sales force and manufacturer representatives.
  • Documents change management activities.
  • Updates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
