About The Position

Global Impact Group is seeking professional and certified Onsite American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to provide in-person interpretation services across the United States. Interpreters will support communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing persons in a variety of settings including healthcare, government, education, legal, and corporate environments. Assignments will vary in duration, frequency, and location, and interpreters may be scheduled for local or travel-based assignments depending on availability and project needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • National certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID): NIC, CI, CT, or BEI certification (as applicable).
  • At least 2 years of verifiable experience providing onsite ASL interpretation.
  • Ability to travel or relocate temporarily for assignments, when needed.
  • Must pass background check(s), drug screening, and security clearances where required (e.g., for federal or educational institutions).
  • Familiarity with ADA, HIPAA, FERPA, and other applicable privacy and access regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in healthcare, court/legal, federal government, and K-12 or higher education environments.
  • State-level interpreter licenses where applicable (e.g., Texas, Michigan, California).
  • Multilingual or specialized training (e.g., medical, legal certification).
  • Comfortable with last-minute assignments and travel coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpretation in real-time for in-person settings.
  • Interpret complex dialogues and specialized vocabulary in settings such as medical appointments, courtrooms, public hearings, and conferences.
  • Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Arrive at each assignment on time, prepared, and professionally dressed.
  • Provide pre- and post-assignment reports when required, and follow client-specific protocols.
  • Serve as a communication bridge while remaining neutral and unobtrusive in all interpreting scenarios.
